Yes, it was very special. Glad you like it!
I was very lucky!
Thank you very much!
Thanks Bart! :)
Thank you Aaron
Thanks, Douglas! Appreciate your kind words.
I love taking pictures OF Whiteside Mountain as it is a beautiful mountain. However, recently I decided to hike up to near the top of Whiteside to see the sunrise from there. I was happy I went even if the color was not hugely dramatic. The hike was a bit tricky as there is a lot of water...
You are right about being lucky. As an old tennis coach of mine used to say, "I'd rather be lucky than good." But thanks for your kind words and I think for all landscape photographers, going back to the same location a lot and being willing to risk not getting anything eventually results in...
Got a gentle reminder from Ben that I have been MIA around here. Sorry bout that. Here is one from the other day--two mornings ago. I got up for the sunrise and hiked to my favorite nearby location despite high winds and cold temps (about 5 degrees F. with the wind chill). I had hopes for...
Waterrock Knob is one of my favorite overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The "Knob" itself is adjacent to the parking area and is at an elevation of just under 6300 feet. The parking area is at around 5820 feet and adjacent to the parking area is where most set up for pics--with views of...
Tried my hand at a few Neowise shots the other morning (early!). Hope you like these. The first image is actually the last one taken and is taken with a GF 110mm lens (86mm full frame equivalent). The second and third images are with the GF 250/4 (nearly 200mm full frame equivalent).
It was a crazy sunset--glad you liked it.
:)
Thanks Ben. Appreciate the comment.
Those were my favorites, but I do like them all.
Thank you for your kind words!
Thanks Jim. As always, appreciate the feedback. I agree that the top portion of the sky is less interesting.
Thanks...
I agree with cropping the sky. There are no interesting clouds with light playing off them, so the interest is down below. Lovely image, just one that will work better as almost a pano crop.
I keep looking at this one. It is very serene. It is almost a "minimalist" composition if i you will forgive the adjective. The sea calmed by the long exposure, of course, but the symmetry of the composition and restrained and complementary color palette (yellow rocks with yellow sky, blue...
Last week was on Sunset Rock and the clouds were pretty thick and rolling through so it was dicey if there would be a sunset at all. Then the sun broke through and started getting filtered by the clouds/fog for some crazy light. Hope you like these.
Went on an adventure yesterday! Two new waterfalls for me. I was guided by a friend (and co-administrator of the North Carolina Waterfalls Facebook group) Thomas "Badger" Mabry. Together we went to this fall (Lower Bearwallow Falls) in Gorges State Park in Transylvania County, NC. Badger has...
Lovely image, as always Vieri. The moving foliage problem is one that is all too common when taking pictures of waterfalls. If you have a short exposure of the same shot, any reason why you might not be able to paint over the blurred areas with the short exposure? Just a thought as the only...
Thanks Alan. What I have been finding with the Blue Ridge Parkway is that while you can get nuclear sunsets, if there are clouds (which there usually are) you often get interesting/dramatic light. Will be going there more.
Thanks Ben!
Thanks Jim! the BRP is a special place.
Thanks...
My favorite recent waterfall picture. Great conditions so was able to make a longer than usual exposure. Hope you like it! Silver Run Falls in Cashiers, NC.
That is a really cool photo. Well, cold is more like it. Brrrrrrrrr........ If you had not said what it was, I might have thought infrared sand or something, but this is better. Thanks for sharing an unique shot!
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
