    Friday's Focus - 2020/05/05 - Dead Trees

Probably the most famous dead Jeffrey Pine, Yosemite NP.

    McGee Creek Canyon

Yeah, I'm quite aware the clouds are blown out. By the time I was there I was shooting mid day, almost directly into the sun. I tried some different things but the dynamic range was just brutal. I haven't uploaded my iPhone pics yet to process or analyze, but I may have a better version on my phone.

Fall Colors at Bear Lake, RMNP

Very nice Monika. I have found that sometimes a blue sky can be better than a cloudy sky. IMO, this is one of those times because the sky complements the other colors so well. Clouds would make the sky to busy IMO. (My avatar shot is another example where I was very happy not to have any clouds...

    Yosemite to Restore Historic Names!

For the record, I never stopped using the original names. ;-) Most of the eating I do in Yosemite is at Degnan's Deli. Great breakfast sandwiches and regular sandwiches for lunch. (They have pizza too.) One of the few things Aramark does well is to provide free wifi there. It's a great place...

    Fall Color Meetup - 2019

Early reports indicate color in the Eastern Sierra is late this year but starting to come in nicely at the higher elevations. With the color being late it looks like I may get to see areas that are often well past peak when I usually go. It also means that areas that are usually peaking nicely...

    Fall Color Meetup - 2019

Also want to ask if anybody is familiar with fall color in Plumas County (CA)? I'm thinking strongly of extending my Eastern Sierra trip another day or two to visit up there.

I agree with you guys about it looking like a studio shot. That caught my eye as well when reviewing all the photos I got of him.

Thanks Kyle. It was a combination of things working out for me. He came out of the shadows of the back of the enclosure towards me and into the sunlight until he turned right while still being sunlit. I was shooting once he came into the light while also trying to shoot between the fencing. I...

    Two Medicine Sunrise

Beautiful color Kyle. On the landscape photo have you given any thought to changing the aspect ration to 2x1? I would move the image such that the upper right corner starts with clouds and no blue sky. While it would eliminate some of the river, it would also remove a lot of the rocks on the...
