I think what happens is that the water pools in these little spots and eventually evaporates and it leaves behind salt deposits on the surface. I'm not sure why it happens some places and not others but I guess maybe the amount of heat and how fast it evaporates might have something to do with...
Wife and I were just random wash hiking looking for rocks around Hanksville, UT and we found some cool mud patterns. First time I saw deposits on the surface like that before and thought it was pretty cool : )
Saw it on Reddit the other day, very sad and frustrating news. I photographed the tree about 8 years ago, very pleasant a peaceful hiking area. People like to continually remind us why we can't have nice things.
We had luck at the large beach in Grand Marais. There’s a small lot next to the Woodland Park campground for day use parking. If you continue further east down the shoreline towards muskallonge state park my wife said there are more beaches that are less crowded and not as picked over. The one...
Thank you Jim,
The first time we went way back in the day was during Fall. It's beautiful, and if I have time this year I might try to head back up there. The last image was taken on the east end of Miner's beach, it's called Elliot Falls. It pops up on google earth if you search the beach but...
Thanks Alan, I took that shot at 1/8th just handheld panning as the water came it. Just took a bunch messing around. I got some pretty cool ones but I liked the way the sand streaked in that one. Reminded me of desert varnish.
I finally have some new photos to share here with you guys. It's been over 3 years since I've been able to take a trip so this was good for my soul ; ) My wife and I decided to go somewhere within driving distance and this was only 12 hours away so not too bad. It's been 10 years since I've...
Hey Jim :) There's so much pollen sitting in the trees over here on the east coast. If we're ever hovering over trees, our downwash blows it all out and makes a gigantic pollen dust cloud to the point where we can barely see.
We had a big storm the night prior which caused some areas of the...
Took these a few weeks ago on a hike after not getting rain for what seemed like an eternity. A lot of pollen came off the trees and made some really wild patterns. I think I probably shot this spot for a good hour. My thighs didn't like me but it was good fun ; )
I'm sorry Jeffrey, my thoughts are with you and Ben's family. My only interaction with him has been on forums over the years but he seemed like a genuine person and he'll be missed by many.
We use an AS355 Twinstar. We had a Bell Jetranger back in the day, which I’ve actually crashed in before : D I like the Twinstar though, having 2 engines in case you lose one is reassuring at least.
Hey guys, figured I would share these since if anyone in here is from the New Jersey area you might find them interesting. About 13,500 acres burned a few days ago. Our hangar was pretty close to all of this so we flew a few circles on the way back one day and I grabbed some photos. Trying to...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
