So Long Ben

I post this image of my fine friend Ben Egbert with sad eyes today. Here he is at a place that was close to his heart, Skyline Overlook, Utah. Ben and I shared a strong background in mechanics and engineering, having had similar experiences in our careers. I never knew him in his wilder younger days when he raced cars and or motorcycles, working on them himself. He came to me with so many photographic questions and he was always so gracious for the answers. I had the pleasure of going out with him on a great one on one photo camping journey to his favorite places in Utah, as well as with our group outings with FocalWorld members.
Ben and his lovely wife put me up in their home even with my doggie. Just great folks. I will miss Ben terribly.

I wish I had the chance to meet and photograph with Ben in person. I've always valued his humility and constant quest for improvement. I'm sorry for your loss.

Thanks for sharing Jeffrey. I had the opportunity of meeting Ben when I visited SLC a couple of times. We went out shooting on a couple of occasions together. A very down to earth and humble person.

I never met Ben, but I did notice his humility and friendliness in the forum. He had a great energy to him. From wishing people a happy birthday to always leaving positive and helpful comments, he set an example for how I'd like to uplift others.

Thank you Jeffrey for this! That's a fun photo you captured of him. And your words really captured a great part of who Ben was. Words will never be enough, but you did a great job of illustrating who Ben is.

We have a lot of new members that came from DPReview and they really only got to see a shadow of who Ben was and why he was one of the pillars of FocalWorld. It's like a big piece of what has made the community here at FocalWorld so special has now been torn out from us.

Thanks for posting this Jeffrey.

I'm sorry Jeffrey, my thoughts are with you and Ben's family. My only interaction with him has been on forums over the years but he seemed like a genuine person and he'll be missed by many.

Well said Jeffrey.

I didn't know Ben until Jim started FocalWorld but Ben and I have interacted through our comments on almost every single thread that has been posted on here over the past 5 1/2 years. We did get to shoot together in the Tetons a number of years back when he showed me his favorite places to shoot there. I will miss his presence here on the forum a lot.
