    Friday’s Focus - 2019/09/23 - Trees with Clouds

Our Focus on this Friday is on Landscapes that have Trees with Clouds. No Single Trees please. No Forests either, rather a Stand of Trees. So start digging, you might have to look deep to find this weeks Focus. Please Add your photos to this Thread. I will start with an example. I apologize...

Mt. Rainier from The Silver Forest

I worked as an assistant climbing ranger and lived at Sunrise back in the summer of 72. I have many wonderful memories of walking The Silver Forest trail after the crowds left. My wife and I lucked out having the trail to ourselves last week on a beautiful summer evening.

    Snow Lake, Mt. Rainier NP

I'm sure there are many Snow Lakes around the world, I know of two here in WA. I'd never been to the one in Mt. Rainier NP until last week when my wife and I did the easy 2.7 mile hike into it (don't be fooled by the trailhead sign that says 1.1 miles!). No views of Rainier from here, but...

I was lucky to have the beach to myself for a while at sunset a few years ago.

    San Francisco Sunset + Pelicans

San-Francisco-260-Pano by Jim Dockery posted Jul 30, 2019 at 8:02 AM Not sure which forum to put this in, it could fit landscape, or wildlife (I think the pelicans make it), but the city in the background dominates for me so I put it here. Got this last week with my German friends who were...

    Heart Lake in B&W

Shot using the smooth reflexion app on a Sony A7rII. I think I set it to combine 48 shots over a couple minutes. Loosing the apps (this one and time lapse in particular) was the biggest complaint among Sony users in the III series.

    A Crown of Clouds

Upon entering Colorado this afternoon on the I-25 from New Mexico I saw a lot of storm clouds to the west. At one point I saw them framing these distant mountains and knew that I needed to get off on the next exit. This was taken with my Sony A6400 and then sent to my iPhone for processing...

    Inspired by Pepper

Today I was up in Los Alamos New Mexico and there were some nice storm clouds to the North and my first thought was after seeing the cool storm clouds that Pepper had posted maybe I can get something nice like that. So in the midst of the spattering rain, this is what I got. It isn't as nice as...

    Purple Mountains Majesty....

I was out wondering around on Sunday evening thought this would be a great cloud shot, along with the documentation of remaining snow pack in the San Juan Mountains as of 7-14-2019. Sony a6300 (camera conversion 590nm)

    Sunrise Over The Cascades

Drone view from above my house this morning. After reading about dealing with noise in photos from my DJI MP2 I took 5 shot bursts today, layered, stacked as smart object, blended with median, flattened, then took the resulting images which were largely free of noise back into PS to stitch in...

    Sunrise Over The Cascades

Drone view from above my house this morning. For the first time with my Mavic 2 Po I used the stack - smart object - median method to combine 5 shot bursts to deal with noise. After doing that I stitched the 9 resulting images to create this pano. Edit, I just noticed when looking at a larger...

    "El Picon" sunrise, in Spain

The incredible "El Picon" (The Pickaxe), at Playa de Buelna in Asturias at sunrise during a Workshop I led in Spain in 2017. This is an older image with Leica SL, Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90mm and, of course, Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. Thank you for viewing, best regards Vieri
