    Rialto Beach

My wife and I made it out to the Olympic Beaches for 3 days last week. This first post is from our 2nd day when we walked up Rialto Beach. Ellen Creek was flowing fast from recent rains so I had to cross a tricky log jam that my wife and friends declined. Only a few fellow dare devils got past...

    Lk. Stevens Sunset

Mt. Shuksan & Frozen Tarn at Sunrise

It was a cold morning at Artist Point that put a nice skin of ice on the tarns, leaving just enough water for a reflexion.

A couple weekends ago I chased the storm. This was the day after the rain and snow. CC welcome

Tourist Brochure shot at Artist Point

Most of the shots I got on a recent walk to Artist Point near the Mt. Baker ski area were zoomed into the dramatic peaks. These fellow hikers didn't know how well they were posing for me and my tele lens. Recent snow makes the peaks more dramatic.

    Artist Point

Some B&W from Artist Point in WA Cascade mountains near Mt. Baker. These were all shot with a Sony A7rII, most with the Sony 100-400mm at 400. I've posted more shots with a comparison of the four cameras I used over in Travelogue. Mt. Baker from Chain Lakes trail, iPhone 3 shots pano stitched...

    Artist Point, WA

Artist Point is one of the best photo and easy hiking destinations in Washington's Cascades. Follow directions for the Mt. Baker ski area (which is misnamed because it sits on the lower slopes of Mt. Shuksan and you can only see Mt. Baker at a distance from the top of the chair lifts). Continue...

    Glacier Basin?

Like Glacier National Park, Glacier Basin in the central Cascades of Washington is loosing it's namesakes. Drone pano Here is the opposite view looking out of the basin down into the valley I hiked and rode my mountain bike up. The dramatic peaks on the left are the Wilman's Spires.

Bird Woman Falls and Clouds +1

I saw this view while driving up the Going to the Sun road and had to stop. I loved the way the clouds were framing the mountains and waterfall. Any thoughts are welcome. New version with some more oomph in the falls and color dodging in the greens around it.

    The Skies the Limit

At Sky Pond that is. :) This is from Sky Pond in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado from a month ago. I made 2 trips up there in like 3 days because the first time up was so windy, the lake never calmed down for any reflections. This trip was much better, and I had some cool clouds. The...

    Hyperlapse fail but photo success

I haven't had much luck shooting hyper lapses on my Mavic 2 Pro (DJI's term for time-lapse mode on their devices). I've been trying to capture moving clouds, which of course means there is some wind, which means the drone has to adjust itself and can't maintain a perfect position. I tried a...

    Val d'Orcia sunset, Tuscany

Val d'Orcia, in Tuscany, is quintessential and iconic Italy. I am fortunate enough to go multiple times a year to photograph there, and each time is an amazing experience for me. A 23 seconds exposure at sunset with my Hasselblad X1D, Hasselblad XCD 45mm and my Formatt-Hitech Firecrest Ultra...
