Looking east toward Glacier Pk. from the summit of Mt. Pilchuck at sunrise. It was clear when I woke up, but then clouds started forming at summit level until it was socked in a couple hours later.
The view down the ridge from my bivy spot on Mt. Pilchuck last week. I wasn't psyched about sunrise when I woke up to clear skies, but the mountains made their own clouds as the sun warmed the air, eventually enveloping me in fog.
I finally got out for some much needed time with nature. I haven't gotten out much this year but hoping to change that. On my way to SW CO they closed Vail pass due to traffic and I am SO glad that they did or I would have never seen this. I almost didn't stop but the lighting caught my eye so I...
I'm cross-posting this here to keep the drone discussions going.
Click through to view in full HD to really see it (esp. the stars).
Starts off with some time-lapses shot with my Sony A7rII, then goes to video from a DJI Mavic Pro 2. Time-lapse shots prepared in Lightroom. Video edited in...
I was flying my drone around Mt. Pilchuck yesterday morning when the clouds started to build. I saw a glory rainbow forming above me, so I flew out and framed the mountain with the rainbow as an accent. It was incredible having the ability to place the camera where I wanted it to capture this...
I was a bit bummed to find a group of young people already camped in Mt. Pilchuck's summit lookout on a Monday evening, but I know a good spot on a side ridge where I headed to drop my sleeping bag. Worked out great in the end - a new perspective, and the kids scrambled out onto the ridge...
One of the things I love about Colorado is the clouds! A month ago I was driving with my Daughter and grandkids when I saw this cloud that looked like the Starship Enterprise of Star Trek fame, which dictated that I pulled the van over immediately and grabbed my Sony A6400 to capture this before...
I was headed home from town and was totally enamored with these immense powerful clouds that had formed over the San Juan's. As soon as I got home I grabbed my camera and headed out to the adobes, but by the time I got to the right location they had lost a lot of their grandeur, but I was still...
The Focus this Friday will be on Rain. On my recent trip through New Mexico, Colorado and Utah I saw lot's and lot's of Rain pouring down, I saw Rain clouds that were raining in the distance also. I stopped and shot a few of them as I thought those distant rain clouds looked interesting.
So...
I drove to a new location to fly my drone and catch the sunset over Lake Stevens last night. This pano includes the Olympics which are directly west, and Mt. Baker (dimly visible on the far right) to the north.

I was on a walk near my house when I saw some nice light on Whitehorse Mt. to the north. I hurried home, grabbed my tripod and long lens and got this shot. In this B&W version it's all the other layers that make the final result.
The morning fog complemented the sunrise above my house (drone view) this morning.
