I've been the last 6 years in a row. I'm trying to plan and book lodging for this year. I like to stay in the June Lake/Lee Vining area and catch the colors as they come down to the lower elevations. (JL Loop, Lee Vining Canyon, Lundy Canyon, Conway Summit, etc) In past years I've started my...
Thanks Monika. I think Ansel makes us always think B&W when in Yosemite. But I've found it obviously doesn't always work. To borrow from Kenny Rogers, you gotta know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em when it comes to B&W.
I've also noticed since looking, that SilverEfex has a boatload...
Well, you know, sometimes things seem like as good idea at the time and then later, not so much. Unfortunately for me, I learn best from my mistakes even when I'm learning something I think I already know. Nothing like a good hard smack of reality to get a point across. :-)
The clouds weren't blown out but at times they lacked texture. I took a lot of shots from there while moving around and waiting for the big rooster tails that would occasionally erupt as the wind blew the spray. Some included the Merced, some didn't. At times I stood there and debated whether I...
I have other photos from that general area that do not combine the tree with the fall. I think that's the secret here. Less is more. Funny how good ideas go bad after you get home. LoL! Thanks Alan.
When I first composed this photo I liked how the dogwood tree and the waterfall lined up. Since then, the more I look at it, it's starting to look like a fashion faux pas. Thoughts?
That's true, but I don't view my phone as a last resort camera anymore. The built in VR in my camera app lets me get shots I couldn't get with my Nikon due to awkward positions where you can't get a tripod and where you couldn't hold your DSLR still enough due to body contortions.
I agree with your approach Alan. I always try to make a scene look it's best without going overboard. Many times it requires very minimal adjustments, sometimes more. But I find no value in shooting and processing a photo just to leave it looking flat. I like what you did here.
Thanks Alan. No stacking involved. But it was shot with the tiny sensor of an iPhone Xs.
Phones have made huge steps forward and even though they won't yet replace a DSLR, their strengths really benefit landscape shots where you want a lot of depth of field. I use a camera app that lets me...
I was in Yosemite from Sunday until Thursday. I'm just getting started on reviewing all my photos but thought I'd share a dogwood or two as I progress.
I just got home myself a few minutes ago. Left today instead of tomorrow morning due to the incoming rain. Spent an hour and a half at Tunnel View because clouds were so good and getting better. I left at 2:00 and it started raining on the way out.
Having gone the last 3 years at the exact same...
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
