    Salvage Saturday 10/21/2023

Another Saturday is here and it's time to salvage an image you didn't like. Remember, you have a week to contribute to this thread. Find an image old or new that you want to improve. After looking at this mage for a couple of weeks I decided it needed to be brighter in the foreground and...

    Wedge Pond in Kananaskis Country.

This pond was a fantastic discovery in Kananaskis Country. There were almost no photographers around so I could roam the shoreline and look for reflection images of the beautiful surrounding mountains. Here is an early morning image.

    The Mountains around Maligne Lake.

The scenery around Maligne Lake is almost unbelievable. It almost screams "take a panorama." So here are two which actually could connect. The mountains on the left side of the first one connect to the right side of the one below it. They were taken at different times and in different light.

Foggy Fall Morning at Wedge Pond in Kananaskis Country, Canada

I spent the morning at this wonderful location shooting reflections of "The Wedge" (the peak to the left) and Mt. Kidd ninety degrees to the right (I posted that several days ago).

Changing the format of "Salvage Saturday."

After looking at the results of participation in this thread last weekend I have decided that it may be better to make this a weeklong process, so people have time to look through their files and also have time to find something interesting to post. So, starting next Saturday everyone will have...

In honor of Ben Egbert, I am resurrecting "Salvage Saturday" today.

Ben's "Salvage Saturday" was always a fun endeavor. The goal was to find an image in your archives or something new you might have overlooked that could be transformed into a respectable image with our newer technology. The image below from my most recent trip triggered the thought that this...

    Spectacular Mountains at Maligne Lake.

The scenery at Maligne Lake is absolutely spectacular. Everywhere you look it is almost unimaginable. The geology is complex as you can see in this mage. It is the perfect place for panoramas. Here is one of my favorites.

This pond, and its surroundings are among the most photographed places in Kananaskis Country. I will have more images later.

A Late Entry to Last Week's Thursday's Task

I have been gone for the last two weeks photographing in the Canadian Rockies. As a result, I missed John's task of geology in the landscape last week. Here is an image of Peyto Lake in Banff National Park. Note the tilted rock layers.

I always try to capture different scenes from iconic places. This is one from White Pocket, AZ. Unfortunately, there were no clouds this morning.

    Honeybee approaching a flower.

I shot this a few years ago. While going through my files, I decided to crop it, process it, and present it here.

    Grand Canyon Sunset

This sunset was taken from Desert View last year. I didn't process it at that time because I didn't look at it more closely to see a dynamic composition of a tighter crop.

    Salvage Saturday - 7/22/2023

Kyle Jones evidently wasn't able to post this yesterday so I will start it today. My salvage is of some pillars of red sandstone in West Fork of Oak Creek near Sedona, AZ It was overexposed and had a magenta cast to it in the original. The image was taken in 2005. Please add your recently...

    Bird of Paradise

I love the color of these plants. Unfortunately, many of the blooms have imperfections. This one, however, was perfect.
