Thanks, you guys. I think you would really like it.
I didn't say much about Solduc - there is a lodge and hot springs there as well as a vehicle access campground. There are long hikes to get to the alpine, but the forest, river and waterfalls are great.
And if you did not want to go...
I have posted my first Travel Guides Article in that category.
Olympic NP Guide
Mt Constance on the Constance Pass trail, Olympic National Park:
What do you think?
Any suggested improvements are appreciated.
Olympic National Park is a huge island of wilderness between Puget Sound and the Pacific coast of Washington State. There is now more than 3,500 square kilometres (1,370 sq mi) of wilderness untouched since 1909. Along with the mountains there are subalpine forests, wildflower meadows...
I ran across some 4x6 double sided photo paper and said ..... hmmmm.
I wonder if I did the math, could I come up with a print on both sides of the paper that match exactly to make a custom book-mark? ....... yes!
A few years ago I was so confused about the dreaded DPI setting when I was...
(.... not sure this conversation is still active.)
I enjoy printing my own ..... but ..... have gone through many Canon printers and a lot of ink and paper experimenting on getting it to look good. I have not gone the "professional" large format printer route though - mostly 8.5x11 max. I have...
Nice one, Larry. I live in the rain forests of Vancouver Island but have always enjoyed the wide open skies. I guess there are some benefits at being a farmer.

Wow .... amazing colors, Alan. What's the secret, a really good camera or experienced processing?
You also got the isolation bang on with a bit of blur, but leaves enough to know what it is.
I would be interested to know the camera and processing details.
Thanks, Jim.
The slide is from backpacking in the Olympic Mountains - Lillian Ridge above Grand Valley. It was an amazing trek and one of the best campsites ever.
Thanks for finding this post...... a lot of good tips there.
To me, the one of the Glacier Park mountains looked like the white-balance or tint was off a bit. But that could have been what the slide looked like, eh?
...... very interesting article on your slide digitizing technique. Your sample there looks really good.
I don't have a macro lens, but I would like to figure out a way of using my Nikon Z50 instead of the little Olympus (without breaking the bank). I will check to see if any extensions are...
I have used a few different scanners using VueScan software on a Mac and have struggled with with Colour Balance. I am now trying to just shoot the slide on a light-box with my Olympus TG-6 set to auto white balance and extreme macro mode. I posted a JPG without adjustments. It is not too...
Nicely done, Jameel. I have been there but didn't get this great view. I like how you brought out the colors.
I partially grew up in Pullman - its a great area for photography. Here is one from near the top.
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
