Aug '09. Just as the sun's first light hits one of the sea stacks near Hole in the Wall.

I had a number of foggy scenes to choose from, and you know I love those, and those entered in this contest. I decided to go with one of my favorites from White Sands.

Aug '09 on a walk around the Hall of Mosses trail in the Hoh Rain Forest, Olympic NP, WA. Amazing place chock full of ops.

Had dinner with the son and family tonight (steak.....yum!). As I drove toward home the clouds got really interesting, drove through a downpour and saw some lightning. I raced on hoping to catch what was left of sunset at Pickthorne Lake. Had some good luck! :)

From May '09, the top end of Slide Rock St. Park, north from Sedona, AZ. Just a little after dawn, but before any light got to the bottom of the canyon. I liked the different colors of rock, from various shades of red, to the deep blue-grey boulders fallen from higher up the canyon. 0.5 second...

After breakfast, and before the rains moved in, I went on a little drive-about and came across an old barn I hadn't seen in quite a few years. The overcast light was nice so I pulled over and caught a frame. Hwy 286 treasure.

This one took me a while to find in the older archives. All the way back to April '10! But it was the image that came to mind when this recipe came up. Falling Water Creek, in the Ozarks of Arkansas.

Again going back in time, to Dec '09. White Sands Nat'l Monument, now Park. Dawn over the dunes. Looking northerly past a near rabbit brush as the sunrise does its thing with the clouds, while leaving the dunes un-kissed as yet.

I always get a kick out of this rather incongruous sight. Amargosa Opera House in Death Valley Junction. I've heard it said to be haunted and the sky this day aided the feeling.

I took my previous post of the lit-up cottonwoods at a pond east of Bishop and converted it to b&w. It was a striking scene in person and I'm pleased to share it, again from Dec '17.

Going back to Dec '17, with John Paul DeRousseau showing me around the good spots east of Bishop. This was one I wasn't completely happy with the first time, so I started all over. Late afternoon light on the cottonwoods contrasted beautifully with the sky and White Mountains beyond.

Another take from yesterday with my new toy. Sigma 14-24 f/2.8, this shot at 14mm, f/8, 1/60th. And a more traditional view of what I call Pecan Row, looking down Hwy 161 a few miles south from Scott. I'm very pleased with this lens!!

Found another shot to work up from a trip last year. A grand view from Grand View Point. The Canyonlands offer some stunning sights, even when the sky isn't very pretty. And watch that first step! 4-29-19 shortly after dawn.
