Three Fingers Mountain

This is one of the main peaks I can see from where I live (south of this location). I've climbed it a number of times and slept on top (the right hand summit) a couple times, so I have a personal connection to it. I stopped to get this shot while driving home from a nice winter walk with my wife. I'd brought my 150-600mm hoping to shoot an eagle or two, but only saw one while we were walking and none by the road. The tele was nice to fill the frame on this one, but the record setting warm day heated the air and detracted from the crispness, which I've found is a common problem shooting long glass at distant peaks. I think it looks ok in this small web version.

Neat peaks to see from your home.

Being a long lens fanatic I also have to concur on losing sharpness with almost any level of heat or atmospheric disturbance. At the web resolution for this image the impact is quite low.

Hey Jim,

What a great view to have! Those are some really cool peaks, so different then most of the peaks on our mountains around here.
