I'm finally getting around to posting these -- those social gatherings with only your own household regulations are good for that sort of thing. I made a trip up to Portland, OR while I was visiting friends in Bend, 3 1/2 hours away. The Gardens had a timed entry, then if you wanted to shoot the maple tree, it was an additional $10 for a tripod (they take up more space, is their reason) and a line to stand in. There was a roped off area in front of the tree that only 2 photographers at a time were allowed into and each photographer was limited to 15 minutes. Most people were done in much less time than that. I was in the 1st non-member group allowed into the Gardens at 10am. The sun was hitting the maple around 11 & I hadn't reached it yet. Trying to work around the sun & other photographer was definitely challenging. When I was shooting on the right side, still in the roped off area, there were 4 other photographers in the roped off area. The Gardens completely closed due to COVID about 2 weeks later.
