Time to jump in with your old reworked images.

This image is from Mar 2014. I have shown it many times but was always disappointed. I had used a Lee 3 stop nd grad and it was too much, rendering the foreground too bright and with a color cast in the sky. I stopped using ND grads after this trip.

For this image I darkened the foreground to more evenly match the sky.

The end result of your edits looks quite nice.

Thats a lovely bluff with the green. The sky and sea compliment it. What scanner do you use.

Thanks for the picture of your system, I expect I could also use a tripod, but the lightbox is intriguing, how do you get even light and the right color temperature?

That is a beautiful image Ben, well worth reviving. It looks a bit tilted down to the left to my eye. I too used to use GND filters and leave them behind now - more trouble than they are worth with the dynamic range of modern cameras and the ease of blending/HDR with the latest software.

The box under the slide is a light box I used to use for slide sorting. It is made by a company named Logan and is still being manufactured.

Great recovery Ben!

Yeah, 3 stop would be way too much! :) I was a 1 or 2 stop ND grad guy back in the day.

I will tell you this Ben.... you should print this. Your recovery really makes this look perfect to me.

What a beautiful image, my only concern is with the lifted shadows where they are not very dark but contain no information, it shows how cameras have moved on in terms of dynamic range with even quite moderate modern cameras capable of producing detail in deep shadows. Ken
