Pine Grosbeaks

The only Pine Grosbeaks i have seen are in the Boreal Forest about a three hour drive north of the city I live in. Recently the Merlin Bird ID app has identified them in my local park and I briefly saw one fly in the tops of the spruce trees. I went out yesterday to see if I could get a photo. As I was walking to the park I noticed some birds in an ornamental crab-apple tree just a block from my house. Once my heart rate cooled off I was able to get some photos of the birds happily eating the fruit.

Pretty bird and some great captures of them enjoying the buffet. Sure beats a three hour drive when they are just down the street from you

I bet your heart was racing to find them just a block from your house! I know I would be nervous that my slightest move would set them off flying.

I really like #1, that's a really awesome image. Could #2 be brightened up just a bit?

Thanks Jim.. I deliberately darkened the sky a bit in #2 as I thought it made it hard to see the colours in the bird. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have a look.

The sky is actually fine, I think the bird could be brightened a hair?
