A nice scene along Sweet Creek Road not far up the road from where the creek ends. The maples were putting on their usual show of orange and yellows but in this case we also have an additional treat. Mixed in with the maples and conifers are some trees in an almost lime green hue - these are the alders and believe it or not this is very close to their peak fall color show. They have white trunks and when I first moved up to the Pacific NW I kept thinking I wasn't being successful at catching their prime colors before the trees shed their leaves but as it turns out they don't really do fall colors. The leaves turn from a nice summer green to a more sickly shade of green and then just fall off while still showing the light green hue.
