NW Face of Morning Star Pk.

Drone panorama of Morning Star Peak's NW face in the Central Cascades. It was a joy to fly the drone over to check out this face in the afternoon light as we rested at a pass on our ski descent of nearby Vesper Pk. Years ago my partner Jeff (who was also with me this day) and I did the first ski descent of this face down the largest snow gully that angles from right to left from the ridge just below the summit.

Skiing down that gully looks like an act of insanity. That's waaaay steeper than anything I would ever want to try.

This is a very cool shot Jim. What a great view with nice light.

To ski down that? Wow! I can't even imagine that's possible. One would think it would be a straight tumble to the bottom. That is sure some great skiing on your and your friends part.

Here's a shot of Jeff starting the ski descent 11 years ago. The angle here is about 50º, which is one of the steepest long drops I've done. It was a perfect spring day, with carveable snow, soft, but not too wet so it stayed in place.

Me in the same section, an overhanging cornice above (there was a good route through it).

This is awesome, Jim. What a beautiful peak. Digging those shots of skiing the steeps as well. When I was a lot younger I was doing that myself.

Looks like great fun, but I was never good enough on the boards to do a slope that steep. Thanks for sharing!
