Well, here is my latest version. That noise pollution is a huge pain in my butt. I really appreciate you guys playing along.
You did a better job with taming the horizon Brian, and it looks like you tried to maintain more color in the core, but perhaps a bit too much in the core now. A little more subtle coloring there might work well.

I go side tracked with an old Death Valley shot I found... But I will start working on my version soon too. o_O

Thanks Jim. I'll work on it. I really appreciate the advice.

Here is my version. I had very little time to work on this one. Most of the work was done in ACR. I have been fine tuning my adjustments there so that after I convert my night time shots, there is only a little bit of processing needed.

For those interested, my ACR settings that I changed were:

Highlights: -100
Whites: +70
Blacks: -60
Clarity: 30
Vibrance: 30
Saturation: 20

I left the WB and Tint alone as they looked pretty decent in the Raw.

Nice one Jim, and thanks for sharing your ACR setting. Do you do any NR there?
Thanks Ben, I didn't do any noise reduction on this because it looked pretty good with not a lot of noise when I had it in ACR. But I will say after downsizing it for the web, it probably could use a little NR, perhaps just 20% Luminance Noise Reduction in ACR would have done it.

That looks really good Jim. I also like to see what you did with the adjustments. I'll have to try those same levels in Luminar and see where it gets me. Being new to editing like this, I feel WAY over my head sometimes (well always actually).

One thing I'd like to figure out how to do, would be to thin out the stars. There are so many, that it takes away from the Milky Way just a bit.

Just found this forum, this looks like some fun!!!:D

there are so many neat and individual edits here, I love how it can turn out so different depending on the person.

well, anyway here is my shot at it! I liked this because I have so much noise pollution around me these shots are rare!

Very cool work Joe! I like your take on this.

One of the things we discussed as Let's Play was in it's infancy was that it would be a cool opportunity for people to get to play with and process photos from locations or types of photos they might not be able to photograph normally. It seemed like a great way to get peoples introduced to different photography. So I am glad you found this!
