Fall Color Updates 2017

Monday Sept 25 - Boreas Pass off the 285 west of Denver Colorado. Lots of trees blown bare already, especially lower down. The higher altitudes still are pretty good with leaves. Most are yellow with some bare trees.
If anyone wants to shoot it, they need to get out there ASAP.

As you all know, Cold Creek Nevada is the color capital of the nation... okay maybe not. There are only a few trees on the mountain that turn and they are at peak as of 9/23/17. Don't start a stampede!

On to Kenosha Pass Thurs 9/21. Twin Lakes at or near peak. Colors peaking/near peak there, but lots of leaf rot on the west side. 9/22 to Crested Butte. Ohio Pass had some spots that were peaking, but most were at least 5 days behind. Between Irwin Lake & Crested Butte, the aspen on the north side of the road ranged from not turned at all to a few trees with red. Mostly pale to medium yellow.

I went up to the High Peaks area of the Adirondacks last weekend. I'll put in a link to the NY Fall Foliage Report, which says it should be peak color in the High Peaks area of the Adirondacks this weekend. It's much less color in the Southern Adirondacks. See the report for all of New York.
But I've got to say, it's one of the less colorful falls I have seen so far. We had a lot of rain all spring and summer, but nothing much for the past month. The colors are subdued, and the reds and yellows that started early have all gone brown.
That said, there is color to be found. I got this image at Connery Pond one cloudless sunrise last weekend.

Maroon Bells in Colorado is still partial yellow/green. Definitely running late compared to most years.
The drive on 82 to Aspen is mostly green colors until you get almost to Aspen. On the drive up into Maroon Bells there is quite a bit of yellow along the road.

Fri Sept 29 - Owl Creek Pass.
Mostly green at the bottom, the higher up one goes along the road the more yellow there is. Maybe it’s 50% yellow at the top, but I could be being generous. Backlighting definitely brings out more yellow.
Here is a poor iPhone shot as the last of the sun was hitting the trees.
