Bond Falls in Michigan UP 10/5/17 We appear to be dropping leaves as fast as they are changing. Side note, called Ricketts Glen State Park in Penn. They are forecasting peak color 10/15-20th. Grand daughter in Philly sound like the cover story for a trip :)

Thanks for the update Tim. Man, I wish I could get back there for fall colors. Maybe next year I can be in Minnesota and then swing over that way.

Thanks for these updates Monika! If I hadn't just gotten home to California yesterday, I would be heading to Horse Park! I don't think I have shot it before, but I love the mixture of colors in it.

Jim
Jim, you just don't stay in one place for very long, do you?!

Upstate New York, Adirondack Park update 10/7. Along the roadways from Speculator North to the High Peaks, the color is improving. But the best color is in the woods and on the mountains. The Adirondack Mountain Reserve has a great mix, including some good reds. The deeper woods are still green, but by next week the yellows will be in and it should be near peak. Highly recommend the AMR (2nd photo). The first is along the Ausable River.

Alpine Loop out of American Fork Utah is about prime or slightly past for aspen. It depends on altitude. The Oaks are well past prime except in the lower canyon. For the past three years sone fungus has caused early leaf drop on the aspen, but this year seem's better than the previous 2.

Here is a sample at 8,000 feet (summet TH)

Same day at Ricketts Glen:

Traveled from Wisconsin to Philly and back--colors were muted/as much on the ground as in color while half has stayed green.

Note about Watkins Glen: construction has closed the front parking lot. Access is just up the first road to the east. The trail from the parking lot drops you into the gorge just beyond the first tunnel/stair. The nice part of this is the number of visitors is way down and the ease of photographing way up.

Thanks Tim for that update! You have some beautiful waterfall shots here with the fall colors. I hope you saved a shot for tomorrows Waterfall Wednesday thread. :)

Of course, but it's a little out of the box . I tried pushing myself to use my 70-200 and came up with one . We'll see what others think. Thanks Jim

I saw a couple of trees like that in Vancouver, WA this morning when I was out for a run. Stunning.

Heading down to Florence for a few days starting Monday to check out the coastal mountains and will be taking the scenic route down. I will update with what I see.

Central Oregon Coast Range has a bit of color left but the wind was blowing pretty hard today and stripping what's left off rather quickly. This is along OR36 just east of the Eugene Airport.

Overcast would have been nice as the sun was pretty harsh.
