91% Moon - 2021/04/28 + Edit

I have been trying to get out and capture the moon each night for an upcoming project. So this is Wednesday nights moon which was at 91% when I captured it.

I incorporated some of the ideas from a video Yervant had shared in his recent Mineral Moon photo. (1) Mineral Moon | Focal World I initially was just going to do a quick test that I wasn't going to save, as I just wanted to see if I could pull out some of that mineral color also. But then, I decided to save it and finish it. So this isn't perfect, but I think it's still good enough.

Jim, it's just a bit crunchy and the color seem a bit too much. Otherwise I think this is probably a very good capture.

Agree with Ben on the crunchy part although this is far better than anything I have ever done with this orb.

It does look a bit crunchy.

The color seems fine to me, it's less color then I have seen in others. I probably shouldn't have done that last little sharpening at the end where I was getting too fancy I think.

I will post an update later without that last sharpening.

Yes, it comes across as a little over-edited, although the 2nd version is better in that regard. Always a fine balance, especially on the near full moon, to get the detail you want without overdoing it. Coloring is good, could also maybe be a tad less, would have to evaluate that with a less sharpened result. Agreeing with Alan though, as this is better than I have yet done. I stubbornly am going to wait for last quarter, as I really like what can be brought out along the terminator.

I think the coloring would look just fine if the Moon itself wasn't to over processed. It's all a process!

I think these are all a work in progress.

I know you want to wait until the last quarter, but maybe shoot the moon before that and practice a bit since the processing of these is a lot more involved then one might think at first glance.
