This was from 2 months back in Yosemite National Park. High water in the Merced, it was getting later in the afternoon and I liked the way the light was hitting Half Dome, and also how the reflection was a constantly changing abstract.

While hunting Dogwood Blooms around Yosemite Valley 2 months ago, I came across this Solitary Sojourner. It's solitary life really spoke to me.
This is shot at f5.6 to isolate the bloom from the ground. I shot it at f13, f8, f5.6 and f4. And I ended up with f5.6 when I could review back here at...
From a couple of months ago I guess now, this is in Yosemite and I was working the backlit dogwoods along the Merced. I found a spot where the river would splish and splash once in a while, so I was timing my shots to get some cool splashes. This kind of reminds me of the 4th of July Sparklers...
From last month in Yosemite, this is a wider view of some Dogwoods west of Gates of the Valley looking across the Merced with the Cathedral Rocks that surround Bridalveil Falls. You can see how they end up being the light/color source of the reflection in the Merced.

To bookend with my recent Sunrise at Tunnel View, this was the sunset of that same day in Yosemite Valley. It was a nice beginning and end of a day filled with Dogwood blossom chasing.

A Dogwood that is. :)
This was from a month ago in Yosemite National Park, down by the Merced River and not too far from Gates of the Valley. It was past Dogwood peak, but the flowers despite having a bit of character to them due to getting a little aged, they still were larger then the leaves...
From last month back in Yosemite. This is from sunrise at Tunnel View. Shooting sunrise isn't always easy there as you end up shooting into the sun and it means everything is in shadow. Typically the area between El Capitan and Half Dome always ends up with a blue cast in contrast to the warm...

I will always remember my first big wall climb when I look up at Half Dome's NW face.
When I made my little Death Valley to Yosemite loop last week I knew the Dogwoods were past peak, but I figured that was okay because it only helped give the Dogwoods some character and plus as long as the leaves haven't grown so large that they have suffocated the blooms I think it still looks...
This is from last November, I ran up to shoot fall colors in Yosemite. This is from Gates of the Valley. The water was quite low, and with that big old tree out of the way of the main viewing area, it is really easy to get out into the middle of the Merced.
As I was shooting, I had to deal with...
I always make an effort to get to Yosemite and shoot the Dogwoods in bloom in early May, it has dawned on me that Dogwoods bloom twice, or at least feel like they bloom twice since in the fall while there are now flowers blooming, their leaves sure seem to bloom with cool orange and red colors...
Literally, I was looking down on the fall color even as my spirit was soaring high from the fall colors. :)
These are from a few weeks ago in Yosemite National Park. I can really get stuck in looking and seeing the world around me in a certain way (Wide Angle). So I tried to mix it up a bit in...
I visited the Mariposa Grove of Sequoias when I was in Yosemite earlier this week. I had a fun time, the light was mostly cloudy with just periodic sunlight so it was pretty perfect conditions.

Here's a recent shot of the Gates of the Valley reflecting in the low autumn waters of the Merced River. This was a little while before sunset.
Any thoughts are welcome.
I just missed meeting up with Kyle and Jim Sanderson in Yosemite early this week, but I didn't miss the fall colors. It was awesome there. This is from the Mariposa Grove of Sequoia trees. It's an area more known for it's Sequoia trees but is also a great place for fall colors.

Here's another scene from Yosemite on Sunday, taken from the same location as my Half Dome shot but pointing in a different direction.
Any thoughts are welcome.
Watching several weather and sunset predictions, I decided to try my luck in Yosemite on Sunday. I found plenty of color, some leaves, an iconic scene, and some nice alpenglow. Unfortunately the clouds all left the scene (saw plenty driving in and driving out though!). So I decided to work the...
Gates of the Valley, one of my favorite places in Yosemite. It's a place many visit, but few stay for long and especially early or late there are not many people.
