    Just Moss

This was my first ever trip to Oregon and Washington, I was looking for Moss like a baby! Just photographed everything I saw, love the green there!

    Winds of Winter

Yesterday I attempted to do some snowshoeing in RMNP. The wind was too much for my liking 30-50mph is not fun to be out in. However I did manage to get some shots while leaving.

    Three Fingers Mountain

This is one of the main peaks I can see from where I live (south of this location). I've climbed it a number of times and slept on top (the right hand summit) a couple times, so I have a personal connection to it. I stopped to get this shot while driving home from a nice winter walk with my...

    Utah Desert in B&W

Jameel's shot of Landscape Arch got me thinking about my own shots from down that way in the fall of 2016. Canyonlands Tree & Stars Grand Wash, Capital Reef Panorama from 12 shots with my 55mm from Chimney Rock trail, Capital Reef. Coyote Gulch Coyote Gulch Trees

    Winter Simplicity

Often, as landscape photographers, we chase light and look for the explosion of color, the perfect sunrise or sunset. Winter, however, provides the very antithesis of this in almost monochrome - form, textures and shapes. These often show up where we are least likely to look for. The image below...

    Topaz Impressions Art Filters

I've found the Topaz Impressions art filters to be excellent for realistic painting effects. Most effects are named for the artist who's technique they mimic, then you can change many parameters. This is my version of the Van Gogh filter on some fall leaves in my neighborhood. Impasto No...

    Sunset on Mt. Shuksan

I got this when my wife and I returned to our van after a short hike near the Mt. Baker ski area (many people who visit think this is Mt. Baker since it dominates the view at the ski area). I barely had time to set up my tripod and attach a 70-200mm lens to my Sony A7rII before the sun was gone.

Posted this in the Contest Forum, but realized that the forum is for recently captured images. So here it sits. Not totally B&W, but close.

    Things are looking up!

This is from the Redwoods. I have seen a few of these looking up Redwood shots, but was never real happy with the results when I tried. This is one of the ones that I did like. All comments are welcome, Jim

    Cypress Swamp, choices

Another scene from the cypress swamp on that foggy winter's morning. Giving you a choice of color or b&w. Just curious. :)
