Sugar is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Swan Lake Iris Gardens in Sumter, SC. I loved the soft rolls and arcs and, of course, the colors.
Slit is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Swan Lake Iris Gardens in Sumter, SC. In my minds eye, this felt like a pupil as if Mother Nature had created a flower that could look back at its admirers. I don't often use focus stacking, but here I was able to successfully...
Rolls is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Swan Lake Iris Gardens in Sumter, SC. I was attracted to this scene by how the points and sharp edges in the center create a tension that dissipates in waves that flow out into the frame as the rolled petals become larger and...
Glisten is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Hopeland Gardens in Aiken, SC. This spider web had an incredible number of tiny water drops on it (some were so small that they were just a little bigger than the web itself). It looks bigger than it is because I was able to...
Orange Cracks is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Dreher Island State Park in Prosperity, SC. This is more tree sap, and my final one from the state park where the beavers caused the damage.
Arcs is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at the Aiken County Historical Museum in Aiken, SC. I have lots more sap, but I thought I'd better throw something else in every now and then to keep you from burning out on them. ;)
This is a hosta leaf and I loved the colors and...
Glassy is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Hopeland Gardens in Aiken, SC. This sap reminded me of blown glass. I loved the color striations and the blues from the reflected sky.
Globs is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Hopeland Gardens in Aiken, SC. This is pine tree sap. No moss in this one, but some nice reflections and wonderfully colorful refractions.
Tears is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Hopeland Gardens in Aiken, SC. This is tree sap that was fairly fresh. I believe some of the gorgeous wood colors are due to the limb being recently cut combined with a long period of rain and wet weather. I was able to create...
Sap Channel is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Dreher Island State Park in Prosperity, SC. This is another from the area where the beavers had chewed up some of the pine trees. I loved the two big drops and was able to witness sap running through the furrow.
Ogre Skin is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at the Rye Patch in Aiken, SC. I found it growing on a tree. Not sure what it is, maybe some type of moss.
Cracked is from my Naturally Abstract collection and composed at Hopeland Gardens in Aiken, SC. It is also the first image in a sub-collection that I refer to as Stump Art. I liked the dried, abstract patterns and the nearly grayscale color palette.
Fountain Eggs is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Hopeland Gardens in Aiken, SC. I'm not sure what they are, but they appeared to be some type of egg on the surface of the water. The green leaves are duckweed (which also adds some scale to the eggs). I thought they...
Soaked is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at the Rye Patch in Aiken, SC. This is another one from Patsy's Garden. This is also another image where I used the flower as a very colorful backdrop and focused on the water drops.
Expansive is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at the Grove Plantation near Adams Run, SC. The thistle here reminded me of an explosion since it appears to be expanding out from the center in all directions.
Fractured is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Dreher Island State Park in Prosperity, SC. This is pine sap, and I loved the crystalline or icy look. All of the scratches, gouges, cuts, etc. felt quite abstract to me.
Saw Blades is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at the Aiken County Historical Museum in Aiken, SC. This was from one of those scenes where you know that it contains compositions, but you just can't seem to find what you want. But, you keep looking at it every time you're...
Ear Drops is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at Hopeland Gardens in Aiken, SC. This is dew on lambs ear. I loved how the drops act like little magnifying glasses.
