Here's a few more from Canada. We started our trip in Montreal and had the pleasure of visiting Notre-Damn Basilica. Challenging conditions - no time to setup a tripod as you only get 20 minutes and people all over the place. I cranked the ISO up to 3200 and got what I could. The detail in the...
Thanks Jim. We went about a week or two later than we should have. Many of the trails we planned on hiking were already closed or too dangerous to hike. But there was still plenty to do and see. We're already planning a return trip for next Sept. From what we were told it's crazy busy during the...
First time visiting Canada a couple of weeks ago. Spent 5 days in Banff and Yoho National Park. The scenery completely blew us away. We're already planning a return trip. Here's one from Emerald Lake in Yoho.
Hey everyone. I've been MIA for a little while. Things at home and work got crazy for a bit and then I went to Canada for 10 days. I've got a few pictures I'm working on. Here's one from Canada in Montréal while taking a stroll through Mount Royal Park for the fall color theme.
Last Sunday I spent the night at Hot Creek. It was clear as a bell at sunset - then the clouds I needed for sunset rolled in just as the Milky Way was lining up. 3 years ago when I first started shooting the Milky Way this would've totally bummed me out but I've learned to roll with the punches...
Another image from the long weekend. I couldn’t manage to get up for sunrise since I stayed up late trying to get some MW shots. But I managed to get to a nice view viewpoint before the light got too harsh and had some nice clouds at hot creek geological site.
I went exploring over the weekend. Eastern Sierra and crossed over to NV for a bit. Here's one from Monday morning before heading home at Convict Lake. Didn't have much time here. Just a few minutes to check it out. It was my first time here and I'll definitely be back....
Great shot! That's a bummer about the fence but totally understandable. I was there about a month ago and there were about 30 people there including a workshop. I didn't witness any irresponsible behavior but with amount of people on a regular basis it will definitely have a negative impact on...
Had to clone out part of the other tree (see previous post) but like this much better with just the one tree. I typically like the Milky Way earlier in the season when it's more horizontal but this might be my favorite Milky Way photo to date. I always struggle with how much to light up my...
Thanks Jim. I agree - I would prefer just the one tree as well but with the way the Milky Way was lining up this worked better. I did take a few in portrait so I might be able to crop or clone out the other tree, we’ll see. Probably just need to visit again st s different time of year when the...
Stayed for the stars on Saturday after the great sunset. When I first got there I think there were about 20 people., maybe more. And if you've been to this spot you know about the ankle breaker loose rocks on the steep hill you need to setup on. A few people left after sunset but it was still...
Thanks Jim. I went back and looked at the photo info. This is 15 images, 10 Sec. exposures at F 2.8, ISO 12800. I use Starry Landscape Stacker to stack images. My 50mm goes to 1.4 but any time I go that far with most of my fast lenses I start to get some come aberration.
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
