Lone Pine Mountain Milky Way

From several weeks ago in the Alabama Hills. Stayed up most of the night shooting the Milky Way at a couple of different arches. As the moon started to rise I noticed it lighting up the mountains and remember Jim saying that it's great to use the moon as a natural light for the foreground in Milky Way shots.....he was right. This is a stack of 10 photos I think, maybe 12. Taken with my 50mm. Really love that lens for Milky Way - surprisingly.

Yeah!!!! I am glad that worked out for you Brandon! I think it can take Milky Way shots to the next level when the moon is used like that.

This one is really sweet! And that’s funny how you are liking that 50mm for shooting the Milky Way, are you shooting it at f1.8?

Thanks Jim. I went back and looked at the photo info. This is 15 images, 10 Sec. exposures at F 2.8, ISO 12800. I use Starry Landscape Stacker to stack images. My 50mm goes to 1.4 but any time I go that far with most of my fast lenses I start to get some come aberration.

Brandon,
I am a Mac person too and I also use Starry Landscape Stacker. This software is great for reducing noise at high iso.
Great job here.
