In the Eye of the Storm

As sunset rolled in so did these awesome storm clouds. It was like a feeling of pending doom or Armageddon approaching. This was in the Grand Tetons from a month ago from the Blacktail Pond Overlook area. Because of the clouds it was one of those where the colors were amazing in that there was area's of blue clouds and red/orange clouds along with the sun grasping to hold on while the storm and darkness of the evening was trying to snuff it out.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

amazing cloud and light! i love how the sky is a bright pink/orange and the clouds are a cooler grey/blue. doctor who in the 2000's used to do a lot with competing hues like this to add drama to the light.

You shot this a month ago and are just posting it now!?!? Wow, what a shot. Worth the wait certainly, but you must have been very busy 'cause I would be jumping out of the car window before the car had come to a stop and running inside to immediately post process something like this :)

Seriously though, a great image - really shows the atmospherics dramatically. Love it.

Thank you Mike for those kind words! :)

This light on this night was a progression over about 2 hours. I was down at Schwabachers Landing shooting when the storm with wind and rain rolled in. I jumped back into the van with the Grandkids after I shot some sweet storm shots there. As we were heading back to the campsite I saw the way the storm was continuing to develope, and I stopped at Blacktail zooms Overlook to shoot this.

There was no option or thought to immediately process this since I didn’t bring my laptop, and also the kids were hungry so when I was done shooting we drove back to the campsite where I had to start the campfire in the dark cook up dinner and then s’mores.
