I have to agree with you, Jeffrey! They're national parks for a reason....Oh, please don't make me decide on one! I like so many. I'll say that my favorite is the one I'm in at any given time. But just to trip you up, this is Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.

Wow Monika, I have never seen this before that I recall. What a very cool place. Love those spines in the shot.Nice images, everybody!
I don't get to National Parks or Monuments much since I usually have my dog with me so.....here is Colorado's 1st National Monument. It was created in 1908. Because of it's remote location (about 1 1/2 hours on a 14-mile 4x4 road or a 7 mile backpack), it lost its status due to lack of traffic in 1950. It's now part of La Garita Wilderness.
My first time there was as a backpack, sleeping at about 11,000', listening to my heart pound and elk bugle all around me. There was a rancher who would pack in with some of his horses, then ride out with some & bring his others in. He'd spend a total of 2 weeks there every fall. Pretty nice deal. The next time, I had a high clearance 4WD, but in some ways I missed walking in. I didn't miss walking out, though! View attachment 7083

What was the original name of this, or what is the name of this location?
