This lake is a real beauty. It was found and named by British guide Tom Wilson not the American cartoonist of Ziggy fame. He called it Emerald Lake because the water is greener than the other famous lakes in the Canadian Rockies. He had previously named another lake with this moniker but quicky changed the name of the original lake when he saw the deeper green in this lake. That other lake was none other than Lake Louise.
