Motion? + Edit with No Moon

From a few days back at Full Moon. The old oil rig isn't in motion, but the moon is. The problem with using the 720nm IR filter on my Nikon D850 instead of using a camera converted for Infrared is that it's like shooting with a 20 stop ND filter I think. My exposure was 30 seconds in this, which meant the moon moved in the image. This is a single image, I entertained briefly the idea about moving the moon over from one of the non IR photos where the moon is nice and sharp, but for now I left it with motion.

This is only my second time going out and shooting with the IR filter, and I learned a very important lesson... Don't shoot in low light. This actually probably should have been a 2 or 3 minute exposure that IR filter blocks that much light. But it's fun learning as I go with this.

Thanks again to @Amy Nelson for her help. :)

All comments are welcome,

Jim

The vegetation looks IR but I am not sure what you could do with that moon in this situation beyond Ben's suggestion.

I like the looks of this one Jim, you could just clone out the moon.
Yep, I actually cloned it out in an edit here to see what it looks like. And it looks good, I just wanted to see if others thought it looked weird or distracting first.

So if the moon is a bother, let me know. :)

Yeah, it's so cool how the vegetation changes from a green to an orange/yellow.

If you don't like the moon, let me know.

Where are you at on your IR Conversion? Which wavelength are you going with? I really need to get one of my bodies converted, because IR is fun, but those 30+ second exposures are a pain.

I will likely go with 590nm once I pull the trigger. I can still add filters to get the higher nm bands but in the mean time do more of the color I want to play with.

Ya, low light IR is tough to start with, let alone using a long exposure with a filter. Other than the moon, the processing looks good.
