Yosemite Falls reflection

After posting a version yesterday in the waterfall thread, I revisited this pair. Presenting both a landscape and a portrait version.

Both are great images Jameel, but that second is more powerful because it is condensed to the essence.

I like the portrait mode version better as well. The landscape mode shot leaves my eyes wandering before finding the waterfall and its reflection whereas the portrait mode places it right in front of me.

The landscape mode shot does offer a bit more color for the overall scene and the skies however.

Well... I will be different! I like #1 the most. I like that sweeping view with how the light comes in from the right side. #2 is great, but I sure like #1 the most.

Nice images on both! My preference is for the landscape photo. The shorelines add leading lines into the waterfall plus the rows of trees, and especially on the left, provide nice edges to the fore and mid-ground scenes.

beautiful scene and both are very awesome. I'm with Jim on this one. I like the landscape shot. it might be a little more to look at, but it brings you on a journey and draws you into the focal point of the image.

I first saw this post on my phone, and in that case the portrait one definitely jumped out at me because it corresponded to the screen format. But now that I'm on my laptop, I prefer the landscape version. The reflection is quite sharp and so the stillness of the surface contrasts nicely with the movement of the waterfall. There is more variation in color, etc. to feast your eyes on. Not to mention the shorelines leading your eye to the waterfall as Kurt pointed out. Awesome photo!
