I'll start today's Wing Wednesday with photos of winged animals from my yard.

Anna's Hummingbirds in a bill-fight

This is Apantesis incorrupta, a member of the Tiger moth family. If you tickle the thorax, sometimes moths show their hind wings.
If you tickle their toes, they roll over and laugh uncontrollably. If you tickle their fancy, "That’s Amore."

Male Black-headed grosbeak

The flame skimmer or firecracker skimmer is a common dragonfly in my area. Scientific name: Libellula saturata

A red admiral butterfly in the garden yesterday. Very harsh light but it looked wonderful backlit. Hazy sunshine today and I will go back out in a minute and hope that it returns. I had to put a down jacket on, Autumn has arrived. Ken

These are great Ken. I love the 'furled and unfurled' proboscis positions. The mechanics to curl that organ seem impossible but they have it figured out.
