I'll stick with the no feathers but wings theme for this week.

This interesting armored creature is a Jagged Ambush Bug seen on a Mullein plant in Slocan B.C. where I have been visiting my daughter.

Boy, you and Eric are great at photographing insects! What is it that draws veterinarians to insects?

I have some featherless wings I can add in for this :)

A sunflower in our backyard with a bee:

That is a very pretty image, Alan. Did you know that each of those petals is actually a sterile flower? The fertile flowers are the ones in the central disk on which the bee is collecting nectar. Those that get fertilized produce seeds. In a sunflower that can mean up to 2000 seeds per plant.

Back when we had these in our backyard we were feeding a lot of birds and of course squirrels who came along to mooch. They would go crazy for the sunflower seeds and we would have all of those 2000 seeds as empty shells next to each plant. Pretty messy to be quite honest.

Sadly while the squirrels were fun to watch they were inflicting some serious damage to our house and we finally abandoned all feeders other than ones for the hummingbirds so the squirrels would go somewhere else.

I have a couple of hover fly images.

Hover fly on a Black-eyed Susan. That Crab Spider is just for show. It is easier to see the individual central disk flowers in this image. These flowers bloom sequentially from the edge of the disc to the center of the disc.

This is a single Prairie White Fringed Orchid bloom from a Midwestern Prairie with a Hover Fly.

The entire inflorescence looks like this.

Because of you and Doug, I'm going to find another hobby
Don't, I love your posts. I have to admit, sometimes feel like this too after seeing all the great photo's in here. Then I change my mind and think, I can look at this 2 ways, either as a comparison in which I am always loosing or as an Inspiration to up my game. I have chosen the latter. Keep up the great work you post here!

For some reason, Roger, you don't realize how good you are already. I'm not just saying that because you are a friend.
