Is there a better way to start a new day than to head to the airport and photograph a low pass by two F-35s, our latest and greatest military aircraft? To say an F-35 flying within 100 feet of you is thunderous is an understatement. It shook me to the core and was painful too. The designation for the Marine is F-35B

My friend and I are standing just off the runway, watching these two make a 100-foot pass over our heads. The thunderous noise was defeating and painful.

This photo shows the F-35 coming closer and lower to the runway. Notice that the "scoops" are open (intakes for the fans). The scoops are used in vertical operations Also notice the huge blast coming down from the aircraft as it travels down the runway,

The F-35 is banking over the peak near Capital Butte aka Thunder Mountain. The elevation of Thunder Mountain is 6355' and there are trails that will take you to the top and views that are incomparable. The F-35B passed beneath the peak of Thunder Mountain … the elevation of Sedona is 4350'.

Eric and I went to Lake Pleasant to shoot wildflowers yesterday. The wildflowers were not ready yet, so we switched to birds. Unfortunately, when I switched lenes I forgot to switch settings for f-stop. That gave me too much depth of field. As a result, I had to blur the entire background including the many nooks and crannies. I just finished and I started last night. So here are two denizens of the desert.

Nice work on the masking for these. It looks like it likely took a lot. Neat lemonade to harvest when the blooms didn't come through.

That is quite the sequence Eric. I'm not sure I can even imagine the noise level.
