We are on the letter "E" in the alphabet series of Winged Wednesday. Of course, your photos don't have to start with "E." All photos of winged things are welcome.

female Eastern Towhee: My spark bird. This is the bird that lit the birding fire in my heart 55 years ago. Back then it was called the rufous-sided towhee.

Wow Eric.. Such fantastic shots. I had some trouble finding E birds but did with some digging. Nice story about the Eastern Towhee starting your birding interest.
Here are my submissions.

This is a moth in the genus epinotia according to Bug Guide.

Super quintet of photos, Trent. That moth's eye is spectacular. Seeing every scale is special too.
This most abundant grebe worldwide is the "eared grebe." However, after 100 years, its name has been changed to the "black-necked grebe." Most birder I know still use eared grebe.

Thanks Eric... The name change for the grebe has not reached my version of eBird or iBird Pro. Do you do a global change of your photos when you know a name change has been announced?

You're so good, Doug! Adult male European Widgeon's have a chestnut head with a buffy crown stripe. Any green on the head indicates hybridization with America wigeon. In people there the word for 1/8 Black (or Aboriginal ancestry) is octoroon. I suspect your you bird is an octo-wigeon.
