Could be a "B" or a "C" bird I suppose. Boreal Chickadee, Elkridge, Saskatchewan.

great photo of the Long-billed Curlew, Roger. The pincers are clearly visible on the tip of the upper bill.
Many long-billed shorebirds like your curlew have sensory pincers on the tip of their maxilla. The tip allows shorebirds to feel and grab food in mud and dirt without opening their entire bill. Thus keeping the entire length of the bill clean and free of mud.

A dark subject against a light background is a tough shot. I usually overexposed 2/3 f/stop initially, then evaluate the photo and adjust as necessary. (Exposure compensation)
