I wanted to stick to pictures I had taken in the last week for today's Winged Wednesday. With winter having taken a firm hold there were not a lot of options for images.

Black-capped Chickadees are abundant in the winter. I constantly marvel at their ability to live through extremely cold periods.

Today was a foggy day with reduced visibility and no clear definition of the sky and the land. I saw this Common Raven jumping in the snow drift and exposing some carrion that gave it a meal. Then it flew away.

My contribution for wings today is far less dramatic than Eric's with a group of cormorants drying them selves off on some pilings in Astoria Oregon. The setting is the docks at the Astoria Maritime Museum with the riverboat Queen of the West just beyond the pilings. Not a current capture (2007).

It's a great photo without the bird... the birds do add spice to this delicious photo, Alan

Okay, Douglas, your work is always terrific. I still don't have a decent marsh hawk photo. You have to admit. Marsh hawk is such a better name than Harrier.

Brilliant exposures on the Raven photos. I love the first photo where he appears to be battling the snow and wind. The Chickadee is also an outstanding photo... as expected, Trent
