Oh my - I like all of these. What a neat time to be there. The first two are great shots but that last one has me for being the only time I have seen this place framed behind what looks like a wetland environment. I have not been there myself so I have to ask - has this pond always been there and everyone ignores using it to frame a shot or is this unusual this year?

That pond is often there, Alan. Or at least the times I've been there.

Alan,
The pod is there most of the time. However, I have not seen it so green and flourishing with green color. Most of the time it is brown because of lack of rain. During the night there was one hell of a thunderstorm with lots of lightning. The one shot I had in the distance of the storm with lightning moved in during the night and put on one nice display of rain and lightning.

Outstanding set from here. Much wetter than when I was there last April. I love your wetland image.

Awesome Bob! I have just gotten out from 4 days semi stuck due to landslides wiping out a road in American Basin, and yours was the first thread I clicked on because I know your photos never disappoint!

Such real beauties here. Love your first one with the lightning that’s really sweet!

Jim,
You should have come along it was a nice time for shooting. I have a milky way image also which I will post later but I had to take it a 2am for the clouds to clear out.

Bob, did you worry about the road getting muddy when you saw the storm coming, or were you prepared to just wait it out until it dried?

Jim,
I was sleeping in my car and about two hours after the storm stoped I had to get up to shoot the milky way and everything was dried out. It was absolutely amazing how fast everything dried up. The soil out there is so sandy water absorbs up like a sponge.

Great work, Bob. Were you in danger of a strike?
Jeffrey,
No danger because I was sleeping in my car. However, the lightning was all around me. If it wasn't pouring rain I would have gotten out to shoot.
