Thanks, Michael. That’s tough, Douglas. I’ll go with No. 1.
Thanks, Alan. This is indeed a decision for the book. I need to satisfy the requirements of the writer of the book. As in most of these cases I have to figure out exactly his intent and I haven't gotten it right so far. Thus, I have decided to submit my ideas here for excellent photographers to help out. He stated he wanted to put them in their natural environment. I think images like these might work so we will see. Both are incredible images. Is this for the book project you have been working on?
I like #1 for the delightful level of detail on the drake but #2 with both the drake and the hen makes an excellent image for illustrating this flavor of ducks.
If you have another image for wood ducks showing the hen I would lean towards the first image. No question the first image is the better illustration for the colors of the drake so the intent for how this choice fits into your project depends a bit on the context.
The biggest issue I have with both of these images is that I didn't take them![]()
I'm going with #1, just by a feather!
Thanks for the help, Jim.The first one is the best one I think. The duck is isolated well, and stands out.
#2 is cool in that it shows male and female, but I don't like that there isn't just a smidge more separation between them. Also the background doesn't feel as real as the one in #1.
Thank you for your help here, Larry.Very nice images Douglas, I like them both and if I am forced to chose I would pick No. 1 because of the isolation of the bird and super rich colors! TFS![]()
Thanks so much for commenting, Jameel.Hard choices Doug with two excellent images. I like them both for different reasons.
I like your clever reason, Dan.I'm going with #1, just by a feather!
It's got the greater range of color.
The second one is also very good, with posing of the pair.
Thanks so much or your help, John. The second, I like its composition. Well done!
Thanks so much for pointing out the problem with #2, Ken. I didn't think of that, but it is obvious once you point it out. Both good but #1 is, in my opinion, the best composition. #2 the 2 birds are both looking out of the image and drawing my eyes out. #1 the duck is almost saying look at me aren't I beautiful. Ken
Thanks for your excellent comments, Beth.it's hard to pick between the two, both are excellent. i'd probably pick the first if pressed, i like the pose a little bit better in that one.
