What profiles do you use for medium format?

I’m curious if anyone here shoots with and posts images from a Fujifilm GFX medium format camera or another medium format system.
Please share your experiences working with the profiles you use on your medium format camera.

Hey Peter,

First off, I don't use profiles. I just like to edit each image as I saw it.

But having used Velvia film back in the day, I will say it looks like the added saturation does help bring back that Velvia feel. So I think you are on the right track there.

Shoot RAW and apply whatever profiles you want in post. I shot film for a long time and the last many years I gave up on Velvia. The narrowest dynamic range of any film made!

Jeffrey, thank you for sharing your experience... Yes, I’m trying out the individual profiles just as you described—one after another—until I find one that suits the image. Then, I tweak it to best capture the look of the location I photographed. I usually create 2 photos from two profiles this way and choose from them.

I have missed medium format in recent years (2020 - 2024). I have moved on to the possibility of processing medium format digital images and have recently been working on profiles created based on Fuji Velvia, Provia and Astia slides. I believe that I will find satisfaction in them.

Hey, and Peter if you find satisfaction, that's really all that matters.

Doing each photo by hand without profiles gives me satisfaction. But for you, it's using profiles to recreate a look that you had loved. So that's awesome I think as well.

I think, and I am sure you probably agree that there is no real right or wrong in our photography. I think it's most special when aspects of it are unique to ourselves.
