A beautiful waterfall high in Porphyry Basin of Colorado's San Juan Mountains (near the town of Silverton).

This view/setup is a image dear to my minds eye, a visualization one has of the grandeur of the American West.
Or it's appeal could be that you had to hike three miles up hill and looking back with that leading line of the creek makes it all worthwhile. Good work Guy.

Alan,
It is at the top of Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona. You can reach it form the Cookstove trail which is the last trail at the north end of Oak Creek canyon that goes up to the rim. It is about a 2000 foot elevation change in 1.5 miles from the bottom.

View attachment 4625Here is my submission for waterfall Wednesday. This was taken at the top of Oak Creek Canyon from a trail called Cookstove trail. This waterfall only runs when there is sufficient snow on the rim of the Canyon. Enjoy!
Wow Bob! This sure looks like a cool area! I like the way the water pours off that wide lip of rocks. I haven't been up in that area, but it looks like an area worth visiting!

Wow, another great Wednesday series. Sorry I missed it. Guy, thanks for the visit to Porphyryl. I've been to Silverton quite a few times, but I never knew of this beautiful place. I'll just have to make another trip. Great image !
