Can't say that we have had a Waterfall Wednesday on Christmas Day before but here we are. Hope your day is going well.

This is a winter scene from Shepards Dell in the Columbia River Gorge from a few years back.

That's one of the best waterfall shots I have seen from you Ben. Makes a great X-mas scene too with the fresh snow

White stuff isn't necessary at all - I like the green highlights in this scene.

Keeping with the theme of winter scenes, here is one from Ithaca falls.

These falls are in Logan Pass but I can't determine whether or not they are named.

I did go out last week to get some new waterfall shots but couldn't get to the high ground as the roads were blocked with ice and snow. It doesn't take much for the police to shut roads and although you can ignore the signs and drive round the barriers it doesn't seem sensible so these are old ones and I hope that I haven't posted them before, they are as wintery as it gets here. Off to North Scotland next week unfortunately the outlook is unseasonably warm but I can always hope for Aurora. Ken

The blues come from the ice. The water at the bottom of the falls is frozen. The yellows come from the rock which is a combination of reds and yellows. This fall very seldom flows. Only when there is sufficient snow on the rim in Flagstaff does enough water accumulate to get the falls to flow. This is one of my favorite water fall to photograph in the Sedona area.
