Water Lilies

I was able to squeeze out some time today because the weather was perfect for shooting water lilies. They do not open in low light or if it is overcast. So, the trick is to catch them on a partly cloudy day, set up your image when the sun is bright, and wait for a cloud to pass over the sun to get nice even light.

Here is one of the images I captured.

Love your trick Doug! Thanks for sharing that, I had never really thought of that before.

And what a great image, love the look and detail. We have been missing you, so it's great to have you post this today.

Lovely image Doug. Another way to tackle this is to use an umbrella to block direct light to shoot this.

Worth a try to lose some from the bottom to make this into a landscape orientation.

Lovely image Doug. Is that at the park where we saw them? I made a fine image that day.
Yes, it is, Jeffrey. It's spectacular this year, and there are no bugs. I am going back when I get a chance. I recall that you captured a great image at that time, along with several others. I still can't get that drone image of the Courthouse out of my mind. I went by there the other day and immediately thought of you.

Thanks, Jim. I think I have about a month or so left on the book.

Thanks for the comment, Jameel. I thought of that, but the sun came back out quickly. I will go back if the conditions present themselves again.

Thanks Doug. Were (are) you in Santa Barbara?
