Walltown Crags

It has been hot here for the last 2 days. Not USA hot but mid90's here and 100+ further South. This is a country where very few people have air conditioned houses, at a guess it will be less than 1%, so we are suffering. Last evening I went for a walk up onto Hadrian's Wall to get some exercise and try and get an image of the Crags. Ken

Wow Ken! Love that cliff edge. It's such an amazing land form how that cliff edge is thrust up like that.

I had heard the heat there was super bad in the UK, so it's mainly down south? Yeah, here probably 95% of houses have Air Conditioning. So if you guys don't have it, that would make for some miserable living.

I know there has been lot's of talk about Climate Change the last 8 or 10 years. But wow.... our climate world wide is getting pretty crazy fast!

You had some good light for this scene - the way the hills are lighted. Overall a very pleasing scene.

Even in the US, not every place has A/C. In traditionally hot climate states it is pretty high. In the PNW, where it has traditionally not been very hot, less so. Last year we had a super heat wave where temps reached 116F and many homes didn't have a way to cool their homes.

I love this image Ken. As I said elsewhere, the cliffs, the clouds and the light are all perfect.

Wonderful light on the crags and some neat clouds. Doesn't look like a scene where I would expect hot temperatures but it sounds quite unpleasant.

Thanks for the comments. We have not been too bad indoors. Our house was built in the 1860s from local sandstone and has solid walls about 18" thick so it takes a while to heat up. Today with 90+ outside the inside only got to 74F but we had to close all of the windows and draw the curtains (drapes). The downside of solid walls, it leaks heat in the winter. Ken

Hope the heat wave doesn't last long. Thick walls do a great job of retaining temperatures which can be good or bad. If it stays hot long enough the walls will absorb the heat and retain it long after the ambient outside temperature drops. Kind of like winter effect in reverse.
