Thursday’s Task: Thankful for this landscape.

On a recent trip west my wife and I encountered unusual rain in many locations despite weather forecasts to the contrary. I am thankful for the good weather permitting these image from Great Sand Dunes National Park. My examples below:

There is so much to be thankful for. Thanks for this topic John. I have some from the last week.

A Willow tree nearly ready to drop all the leaves. Two days later it was nearly bare.
This was in Slocan B.C. while visiting my daughter.

This morning on a walk in my neighbourhood back in Saskatoon the sun sparkled on the accumulated frost on the trees and fog masked the whole city. It was quite a marvel to see. I just had my iPhone with me so used that for these images.

Thankful I was able to retire in a location where these views are less than an hour from my house. Three drone shots at 24mm in late October from one location out over the river in the Columbia River Gorge.

Hello John, Happy Thanksgiving I hope you are enjoying this special day to the most with friends and family! :)

Here are a few pictures I took during a 2 day stay in Estes Park just before Thanksgiving a few years ago; a lot more snow up there than there is this year. ;)

Gorgeous images Trent! I love the snowy landscapes. The colorful willow tree was captured just in time—a fortunate photo! I especially love the second image with the snowy contours in the field bordered by the frost on the trees. Very nice and my favorite. I also like the snow enhancing the last images of the river, island and the distant city. Very nice as well. Thank you for sharing.

Alan, thank you for sharing these beautiful drone images from your convenient location. I especially love the last image—but the waterfall in the second image is also a special capture. I also like the composition of your first image—nice wide angle perspective emphasizing the river.

I am thankful for desert places I can escape to. The Southern San Rafael Swell, Utah area is special to me. It's a two day drive from home but worth the time away, this place recharges my batteries if you know what I mean.

Michael, I love your very beautiful images from Utah and thank you for sharing each of them. Great composition and light captured in each one. The first image is a gorgeous capture of the immense clouds above and rocky landscape beneath—I especiallylove this composition! The middle image is perhaps my favorite with the tonal contrasts in the many layers of the rock formations. Your last image is very nice also with the contrast of the sharp rocky ridges against the slow shutter capture of the sky above. Very nice as well.

Larry, three very special images you have shared—and thank you for doing so! I love the Sheep Lake image’s composition. So good to see snow across the different layers in this gorgeous capture! The white aspen on the slope with the white snow create a memorable image in your second image. And the composition of the stream with snow covered rocks is another beautiful capture borders by the evergreen trees. Again, thanks for sharing each of these Larry!

Awesome theme for today John.

I am thankful for the clouds being clear and my being up north with some recents Northern Lights displays. This is another one from a few weeks ago up in Wyoming.
