Thursday’s Task

Our storms aren't as spectacular on this side of the pond but I have just printed this image for a national competition although I think that it will not do well, but that is a can of worms that I will not open here.

Lastly NE Scotland with 70-80mph winds, luckily the reefs offshore broke up the waves otherwise this would have been a very stupid place to be. I would have loved to use a long lens but I could barely stand up and couldn't really hold a 24-105 steady

Great series, Ken.

I love a good storm and often go out of my way to watch them but you can't always get out to shoot them when things get serious.

An intense winter storm shot from the Boiler Bay viewpoint. I got this shot by parking the car so the passenger side was on the downwind side and set my camera up on a tripod on the passenger seat. I rolled the window down for the shot and then closed it as quickly as possible. It took a couple of hotel towels to mop up the water that the wind whipped inside.

Dan, very nice and varied images (a good thing!) in your series. I love your last image, Afternoon at the Coast”—beautiful colors and light with good composition. The B&W bridge hidden in the mist is also well seen and captured too. “Fire on the Dome” is my favorite—a gorgeous landscape! I also like the B&W minimalist landscape of “Lonesome Prairie”—very nice. Thank you for sharing these images Dan.
