Beautiful image Jeffrey—perfect for this Thursday’s Task. To answer your question “Why only landscapes?”—it’s Focalword LANDSCAPE section, however other members have shared floral and other “red” images as well—it all works! Why only in landscapes? Plenty of exciting red in other genres. But, here's mine...

Beautiful light at Dead Horse Point you’ve captured—very nice image Larry! Glad you shared this additional image—thank you! UPDATE: For some reason, I just viewed two gorgeous “reds” in your original post that I earlier missed somehow—the Bryce Canyon and Garden of the Gods images—both very nice images as well. And one More:

Ken, excellent images—love the sunset image as well as the poppies blooming! The Cumbria sunset is my favorite of all—a gorgeous landscape (with a moon)! In this country we do not have many red rocks, even the local sandstone isn't particularly red so most of the shots will need something else to bring out the red. Some years our leaves cling on long enough to really get red. This is my local 12thC church with a particularly strongly coloured beech tree.

Sometimes you get lucky with sunsets. This is my local Tarn, I saw the sunset developing and drove the 2 miles to here and watched the colours develop, this is peak red.

Lastly our poppies are deep red and fallow fields often get a spectacular show

Trent, I appreciate your “dedication/sacrifice” for the last image—I don’t recall ever seeing this common occurrence captured as well as you have. Great image! I also favor the “fiery” evening landscape too—nice! Both floral captures are also well captured, I especially favor the first.A few images with red. Apologies for those who are a bit squeamish around blood.

How is that for dedication to insect photography!! I can't remember if I squished it before it flew off or not.
