Kniphofia goes by many names including Red Hot Poker, Torch Lily, and tritoma. No matter what you wish to call them they are still a very prominent feature in the garden when they bloom. This was shot this morning with the blooms lit up by a shaft of light through the trees.

Edit: Square crop per Jim's suggestion:

Edit 2 - new crop suggested by Jameel:

Edit 3 - sides cropped to match Jeffrey's suggestion:

C&C always welcome.

Hey Alan, I really like those lit torches!!!

I must be in a cropping mood today :) I think I would go square with this and crop the top off to remove any sign of the fence.

Nice. While this is the popular color for these, I have seen quite a variety around here.

I like the crop better. I would go a step further and crop off the bottom 3rd (sorry that kills the square) and brings more attention to the torches.

Thanks Jameel - I wouldn't mind adding some more colors for these eat some point. I am reworking a lot of our backyard right now and might try to se if I can squeeze some more of these in once I get done.

You crop suggestion is a good one as well and gets me to a 2:3 aspect ratio. I just added a new edit with this variation. This also eliminates the leaf composting pile in the lower left corner :)

I love those blooms. I would take it a bit further and bring in the sides a bit more.
Thanks Jeffrey - the shrinking continues :) I have created a new edit incorporating your suggestions the top. This narrows the field down to almost the dimensions of the shaft of light that is illuminating the blooms. Nice suggestion - it makes a pretty nice composition with this variant. My original shot was more of a corner of the garden shot while this is strictly the blooms.
