The Lightning Rod of the Cascades

That's the title given to Mt. Thielsen in the Southern Oregon Cascade Range. From certain angles, it really does appear to be a sharp needle-like extended summit point, but in this image the point barely clears the clouds.

Thanks Alan! I waited by the roadside for half an hour for those clouds to move on, but it only got cloudier .

Thanks Jim! I only see the peak when I'm on my way to somewhere else and it's usually covered by clouds or fog. I'm hoping one day I'll catch it lit by the sun with some white puffy clouds way above it. Then it would make a nice long exposure photo.
