I am sure I am a bit biased, but after 50 years of visiting Yosemite, and often visiting it multiple times in a year, I have to say there is no more beautiful place on earth then Yosemite National Park. I was there a few days ago, and of all of the sights and sounds that can captivate in Yosemite, watching Half Dome from Stonemans Bridge at sunset is right there at the top. And at Sunset, you can watch as Half Dome turns to a Red, Orange or Gold cast depending on the clouds to the west. As the face of Half Dome turns color, and then as the sun slowly sets to the west, you can watch as the color moves up the face of Half Dome with a very distinct line between color and no color. It's a magical sight!
They are doing a bunch of construction in Yosemite, so normally you can park a few hundred yards from Stonemans Bridge. But in this case it was closed off, so I had to park about a mile away and carry my 2 tripods and 3 cameras there to the bridge. While a bit of a hassle, the benefit was that there was no one else there. At least to start. A couple of others did stop by during the sunset progression and set up and take a few photos and then they moved on.
For those few unfortunate souls who have never been to Yosemite, you want to make sure that you do visit it.
